Abstract: Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) is a rare demyelinating condition which has been reported to occur in a variety of clinical settings, but most commonly in association with a rapid rise in plasma osmolality during correction of chronic hyponatremia. WebThis case report has described the patient having the central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) associated with hypokalemia correction with asymptomatic history of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It was suspected that due to GERD and vomiting there might be loss of electrolytes resulting to hypokalemia.
