Chromosome with kinetochore
WebJul 20, 2024 · Once all kinetochores, all chromosomes are bound, the threads start pulling at the chromosomal copies and tension starts building up between these copies, and the glue between them dissolves. As a result, the copies start to move towards the poles in opposite direction, and, subsequently, the rest of the cell is being split in two. WebMar 6, 2009 · Aurora B kinase regulates chromosome-spindle attachments by phosphorylating kinetochore substrates that bind microtubules. Centromere tension stabilizes bi-oriented attachments, but how physical forces are translated into signaling at individual centromeres is unknown.
